I first toyed with the idea of starting my own business when I lived in South Africa.
That's where I came up with the name Passionfruit + Lemonade and I still love it!
My custom made Passionfruit and Lemonade scarf arrived and it is so much prettier than I had been imagining!!

2016
A friend had posted that Disney's Lion King was looking for dancers. My son went to the website and thought it was a good idea to audition for the role of young Simba, even though he had never had a dance or singing lesson in his life.
It turned out to be one of his best decisions yet! I ended up making a blanket scarf that I could wear at the premiere.
2007
My son was born a few weeks after returning to the Netherlands. While shopping for baby goods I came across this limited edition car seat with upholstery made of Vlisco Wax Hollandais. Of course I couldn't resist!

I still go baby shopping several times a year, because I became a babywear designer for a large retail chain in the Netherlands.
2003
On the first of January, I boarded a flight to Johannesburg accompanied by a student visa, two suitcases and my sewing machine.
I didn't know anyone there, had no idea where I was going to stay, let alone have any sort of steady income waiting for me.
A few years later, I left South Africa with a heavy heart. Leaving behind some of my bestest friends, fondest memories and a fantastic job as a Fashion Design lecturer.
2001
I studied fashion and textile design at the Institute for Fashion Management and Design in Amsterdam. This is where I fell in love with machine knitting.

During my graduation show, I was offered a job as a childrenswear designer for a small Dutch brand, which I gladly accepted.
